Individual Psychotherapy
In my practice, I help clients navigate the problems and relationships that are causing stress in their lives. I use a collaborative, trusting, relational approach to enhance psychological growth and development. My goal is to help each person gain insight into the cause of their distress, and create change from this understanding. Results include relief from anxiety, depression, fears and other symptoms. You will experience an improvement in sense of self, relationships, and life fulfillment. I also help clients learn practical tools to manage difficult life transitions and losses.
Postpartum Adjustment
I have specialized training in the treatment of perinatal mood disorders (including postpartum depression) and the transition to parenthood. Bringing a baby home can at times feel overwhelming and isolating. Lack of sleep and hormonal changes can sometimes cause the relapse or activation of depression and/or anxiety. In my practice I help with learning how to identify, manage and reduce these symptoms.
Couples Therapy
Creating and sustaining healthy relationships can be one of the most fulfilling and challenging developmental tasks, especially during life’s stressful transitions. I work with couples to create and improve healthy intimate relationship bonds. This includes increasing emotional attachment, improving communication skills, and learning appropriate expressions of emotions. Issues addressed in couples work include sexual intimacy, infidelity, fertility, and parenting support.
Therapeutic Techniques include: psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, mindfulness practice, practical problem solving, and emphasis on enhancing individual strengths and building self esteem.
